So I got a new game... Doodle God
Actually, this is one that's been in my backlog for quite some time. I think I got it with a bundle at some point.
I've played this game (and its sequels) on my phone before, so I have some idea of what to expect. However, after watching the trailer just now, maybe I don't. There looks like a lot of fluff added onto this version.
For those that aren't familiar with the Doodle God games, here's a brief description: you take two 'elements' and pair them together to make a more complex 'element'. You then use that new element to make more elements and so on. The challenge comes from trying new combinations and guessing what they might make.
I'm off to give this one a try. I'll be back with my initial thoughts.
Yep, it was pretty much how the phone version works, but with some extra animations, music, voice work, and the addition of 'quests', that I hadn't seen before.

Apparently combining Fire with Earth results in Lava. |
It's a pretty simple 'game', if you can call it that. It's mostly brute forcing your way through combinations to find new elements. It's an interesting idea, but it gets old quickly.
The new fluff additions are nice, and made the game more enjoyable, but in the end, it's still a grind of trial-and-error to find new combinations.
What I liked: The game looks great. The graphics are excellent, and the animations are well done. The voice work is nice, but repetitive.
What I didn't like: It's repetitive. Very repetitive. After a while, you can't remember which elements you're tried pairing together, so you end up repeating the same thing over and over. Sometimes the elements are intuitive. For instance, Human + Vodka = Alcoholic. But others just don't make any sense at all.
I'm not sure I'll play this one anymore. It's interesting, but not something that will keep me entertained for long periods of time.
